Welcome to Mr. Shelleman's Music Page!
The 2012-13 school year is my 19th year in the Harrisburg School District and my 16th year at Marshall School. I recieved my Bachelor's Degree from Millersville University in December of 1993. I taught at the "old" Rowland/Scott Intermediate School during the last two years that it was open, 1994-95 and 1995-96. During the 1996-97 school year I taught at William Penn (that was when it was an intermediate school). I transferred to Marshall School to start the 1997-98 school year and I've been here ever since. During my years at Marshall School, I've also taught at various other schools in the district; Melrose, Scott and most recently at Shimmell. I'm happy to be at Marshall School FULL-TIME again this year.
I currently live in the town in which I grew up, Bendersville, PA. I have two spoiled rotten little dogs; Rio, a Shih-Tzu and Sassy, a Boston Terrier/Lhasa Apso mix. I enjoy all types of music, especially world music. I love learning about other cultures and heritages through their music. I also love to travel and participate in theater.
If I had to sum up my philosophy of teaching music in just a few words I'd say that...
I DON'T teach MUSIC. I TEACH CHILDREN about history, culture and life THROUGH MUSIC!
