Dr.Barberio began his tenure with the Harrisburg School District in 2000.Previously he worked as a counselor at Penn State University and IndianaUniversity of Pennsylvania. A military veteranhimself, he frequently works with traumatized families that have suffered theloss of a family member or close friend. Dr. Barberio worked to create and implementour current Crisis Response Manual; he has served as team leader for district CrisisResponse Teams; and helped write the protocol used to assess our Gifted andTalented students. He performs individualized assessments, consults withteachers, and participates on various school-level teams. On occasion, hesupervises school psychology interns. In his practice,he utilizes the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy model to help individuals andgroups change problematic behaviors that have been trained through years ofreinforcement. His graduate workincludes a Master of Arts degree (MA) in Counseling, Master of Science degree(MS) in Psychology, and a Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) inCounseling-Psychology (a sub-specialty that utilizes both the psychology andcounseling disciplines). He is aCertified K-12 teacher and holds licensure or certification in the followingareas: Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Psycho-Educational TestingSpecialist, Nationally Certified School Psychologist, Nationally CertifiedTrauma & Loss Consultant, and Nationally Certified Trauma & Loss SchoolSpecialist.
