It is our central belief at SciTech High, a small learning community of Harrisburg High School that we are on a journey together. This journey includes all members of the community. It is everyone's job in the Harrisburg School District to help our students reach their maximum potential. It is our goal at SciTech High to provide the great city of Harrisburg , Pennsylvania with a 100% college bound senior class. Any thing less is not acceptable. All of our students are expected to matriculate into college. We recognize the challenge, but success has no limits.
Our vision is to create an environment for learners and leaders who are prepared to make a positive difference in their communities by achieving personal excellence, through creativity, innovation, involvement and the spirit of cooperation.
We will accomplish this vision by providing positive role models who challenge themselves to be life-long learners and innovators by embracing diversity, utilizing enhanced technology and promoting broad-based literacy.
We will create a rich integrated curriculum that will encourage our students to find and develop a purpose for their unique gifts.
OUR VISION STATEMENT
SciTech High is a small learning community of the Harrisburg School District that facilitates students’ development of a solid foundation of academic, social, and emotional skills needed for success in college, careers, and community life. We want and expect our students to become self-directed learners and leaders who have the confidence to apply their critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills in both familiar and unfamiliar contexts.
SciTech High’s program integrates the resources of the Harrisburg School District, the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, the arts of the City of Harrisburg, the corporate community of Harrisburg, and a state of the art facility to ensure that students have access to experiences, instruction, and opportunities that often are not available to inner city youth. Technology, project based learning, and community based experiences help develop students’ skills, voice, initiative, and confidence. Emphasis on science, math and academic rigor builds skills that are essential for success in the 21 st century.
SciTech High personalizes instruction and support services to provide the experiences and opportunities that each student needs to make good decisions in a wide variety of contexts. We seek to challenge, fill the gaps, and inspire the dreams that will lead our students to succeed in college and make significant contributions to their community. We envision SciTech High as a school with permeable walls and endless possibilities, a school that integrates content knowledge, organizations, people, and ideas.
