Elementary students are using the Journeys Program. Built for the Common Core State Standards, Journeys provides exceptional instruction, student materials, and planning support. The program features Irene Fountas Leveled and Vocabulary Readers, Adventure Units Magazines, and Write-In Readers.
6-8 The Reader's Journey is an innovative, novel-based, comprehensive, standards-aligned, language arts program. Students receive a Student Work Text that is used to guide students in learning and practicing reading strategies and writing skills. Students also receive an anchor book that is on their reading level and participate in literature circles to practice their literacy skills. This series is similar in approach to what lower grades are using. Students learn and practice reading comprehension strategies. They must apply these strategies by reading novels independently. This is a difficult series, but by raising expectations for what students must do, we can expect higher achievement.
