How lucky I am to have a career that I love! While the most satisfying part of my job is working with students, it also presents a challenge to meet the needs of a diverse group of kindergarten thru 8th graders. Each day is truly an unique experience.
I began my employment with the Harrisburg School District in the early 90's. Until the closing of Lincoln School, I was the counselor there for many years. This is my second year at Marshall school and I look forward to a productive year. Early in my career, I earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from the National Catholic School of Social Service which is part of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. I am a licensed social worker. Later, I attended Millersville University to earn my counseling certification. My other certification, also from the PA Dept. of Education, is Home/School Visitor.
A few years ago, I was granted the Registered Play Therapy-Supervisor credential...it took a long time to earn this and I am very proud of this accomplishment. I am a retired board member of the PA Association of Play Therapists. "Play" is one of the methods I use when working with students. Check out one of the websites which I have listed to learn more about play therapy.
As a school counselor, I work with students, families, teachers and community agencies. My main objective is to help students become successful individuals and to instill in them a desire to reach their full potential, whatever it may be.
Please visit my site frequently. There are several interesting links to information for parents, staff and students.
School counseling is available to all students.
