Overview The District provides student transportation services to resident public and private school students in accordance with Board policy and law. General and specific information about student transportation services can be obtained at 717-703-4055 or 717-703-4145. Services are provided by contractual arrangement with First Student, Inc. and Boyo Transportation. The Harrisburg School District school bus transportation system is a massive operation. In a district of 11.4 square miles, a total of 64 vehicles (including 22 buses, 28 mini-buses, 10 passenger vans and 4 lift mini-bus) transport over 2,000 students to various district and non-public schools. On each school day, these vehicles travel over 2,700 miles providing service for first grade through 12th grade students, educational field trips, athletic trips, activity buses, and special education classes. Each student is required by the Board of Education to adhere to School District Policy #810. Non-compliance with these rules may result in loss of the bus riding privileges and suspension. Book bags, back packs, projects, and musical instruments are permitted on the bus; however, for the safety of our students, they must be of size and weight suitable for being held on the lap of the students. Questions or concerns should be directed to the Transportation Office at 703-4055. Student Behavior Transportation services are a privilege, not a right. Services can be denied in the event of severe or frequent violations of the student code of conduct.
