Dear Parents, Guardians and Students:
Welcome to Benjamin Franklin Elementary School! I hope you are continuing to enjoy the last few days of your summer vacation.
It is my pleasure to announce that for the 2015-2016 school year, Benjamin Franklin Elementary will have two Assistant Principals assigned to the building. Please join me in welcoming Angel Doyle, M.Ed., and Pia Peterson, M.Ed. There will be two school counselors and three security officers on campus as well.
The academic year for students will start promptly on Monday, August 17, 2015, at 8:45 a.m. The students may enter the building at 8:15 a.m., and breakfast will be served from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. All kindergarten students should report to the gymnasium. The school day will end at 3:35 p.m. As we have school buses, vans, and cars dropping off and picking up students (these are peak traffic times), safety is our first priority!
We will focus on the goals in this year’s school Comprehensive Plan by:
- Ensuring there is a system within the school that fully ensures school-wide use of data that is focused on school improvement and the academic growth of all students; and,- Ensuring there is a system within the school that fully ensures consistent implementation of effective instructional practices that meet the needs of all students across all classrooms and aligns with Pennsylvania Framework for Teaching.
Our goal is to provide educational leadership that will raise student achievement. Parents, teachers, support staff and administration all have an important role to ensure that our children become lifelong learners.
We look forward to a great year, and we hope to see you at Open House on September 10, 2015, at 6 p.m.

Third grade teachers at Ben Franklin created fun and engaging math stations. Using the block tiles in the hallways, students worked together with their classmates to solve area and perimeter problems at each station. This lesson not only helped our third graders learn challenging mathematical concepts but was a fun team building exercise.
Fall Athletic Physicals will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 and Thursday, August 6, 2015. The physicals will be held at 5:30 PM in the Kimber Gymnasium, John Harris. Physical forms may be picked up in the High School main office starting on July 22, 2015. Head coaches for fall sports will also have the physical forms. All forms should be signed by a parent/guardian at the appropriate place on the form. A parent / guardian signature is required in order for the physical to be performed. These forms are to be brought with the athlete to the physical.

In an effort to maintain safety and security, effective Monday, January 26, 2015 the administration building is requiring all visitors to present photo ID at the front desk.
