Please note that all registrants must complete and return a Kid’s Café
form to your building’s Site Director. Space is limited however students
will be placed as soon as space is available. Your building’s Site
Director will contact you when space is available. Should you have any
questions regarding the status of your application, please follow up
with your building’s Site Director as listed below. Please allow at

What is E.X.P.L.O.R.E.?
E.X.P.L.O.R.E. is an after-school program operated by the Harrisburg School District. Our mission is to extend challenging, vibrant, and relevant learning opportunities to Harrisburg School District
students in grade K-12. Our E.X.P.L.O.R.E. sites promote youth
development by assisting students in identifying and reaching their full

- To strengthen schools, families, and communities.
sites are organized into sites strategically located in our community's
schools. E.X.P.L.O.R.E. sites are staffed with certified site directors,
certified teachers, instructional and clerical assistants, food service
workers, and volunteers. E.X.P.L.O.R.E. sites offer students a
standards-based academic program, computer-assisted instruction,
cultural and enrichment activities, and recreation. Staff work with
students on interdisciplinary, thematic programs that include literacy,
mathematics, sciences and social studies. Computer-assisted instruction
allows students to improve their reading and mathematical skills. Kid's
Cafe provides a nutrition program, engaging students in a variety of
educational experiences. A hot meal is served to each student.
E.X.P.L.O.R.E. personnel work in coordination and collaboration with
school personnel and other programs offered by community organizations.
Parent coordinators provide parent meetings and workshops.
